Let retailers write their own question
A question they suggested themselves commits them far more than a code they were asked to display.
Retail
Footfall concentrates on three retailers, and the rest wait.
In a shopping centre the flow always follows the same lines: the supermarket, two anchor stores, the exit. Shops off the main route see a fraction of the visitors, and the usual activities β the makeup workshop, the sampling stand β gather everyone in one place instead of spreading them out.
A QR code trail inverts the logic: to finish the game, you have to visit several shops. The customer walks into stores they would never have entered, and every participating retailer gains real footfall.
In the window or by the till. Retailers have nothing to manage: the code stands alone, with no tablet and no dedicated staff.
How long this retailer has been here, which product is featured this week. The customer has to look at the display to answer.
An activity on a Tuesday afternoon creates traffic when there is none. On a Saturday the centre is already full.
At the centre's information desk, at an announced time. It brings participants back to a central point and creates a visible moment.
Each question offers four possible answers, only one of which is correct. You decide how many points it is worth.

The CSV export gives the number of participants and how far they got. That's a concrete argument for running it again next time.
A sign at every entrance to the centre, with the entry link and the list of participating shops.
No. A QR code printed in the window is enough; there is no hardware, no app and no staff time required on the shop's side.
Six to ten. Fewer and the trail is too short to move anyone; more and customers give up before the end.
The number of participants and their progress export as CSV. You know how many people played and how many reached the last shop.
